Rex was honored with the Originality Award at the 2002 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Parade for his gate "Pullin'Billy" on the float sponsored by Ranch Style Beans.

Rex was also honored with the Judges Award at the 2002 Celebrate Texas/Texas Independence Parade that kicked off the Austin/Travis County Livestock Show and Rodeo for the Steel Horse Studio float that featured his gate "Pullin Billy", a Texas Jackrabbit with cactus gate, and a guitar gate to represent the Austin music scene.

In 2003 Rex designed the trophies for the Texas Independence Parade.
